I spent a lot of time pondering this over the last week. What is it about RPGs that is so great. Is it the art, the mechanics, the details? Well? Let us know your thoughts, what makes role-playing so very fun and so moreish?

Completely agree. When I was a kid we "lived" in the world of D&D, we dreamed dreams from our characters, or in my case, players' characters as I was always DM.
In addition to all that you said, I would say the creativity and the replay-ability being so high does it for me.
